Meet The Staff
ABBY STOCKWELL - MANAGER
I have worked with children and young people for over 10 years in a variety of different settings including children's centres, day nurseries, schools and youth centres.
I have a level 3 diploma in The Children and Young People’s Workforce and have lots of experience working with children and their families. I am the Pre-school's Designated Safeguarding Lead and I am also a Mum myself to a little boy.
I am very passionate about providing a setting where children from the local community can thrive. We pride ourselves on being inclusive, caring and nurturing and giving our children a place where they can learn and develop whilst having fun. Becoming manager of this Pre-school has been a dream job for me, I live in the local area and my son also attended this Pre-school when he was younger.
MICHELE O'SULLIVAN - DEPUTY MANAGER
I have been working in childcare for over 20 years and joined the Pre-school in 2009. I have achieved a Grade A pass in the Level 3 Cache Pre-School Diploma, have completed a NVQ level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification and also achieved the Pre-School Learning Alliance, ‘Learning Through Play’ Certificate.
I am the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) for our setting and work with any of our children who may require some extra support. I also work on an ad hoc basis for the Crossroads Saturday Club, giving respite to parents whose children have additional needs. In addition, I am also the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Playhouse.
I have two children myself andfI love my job so much, it means everything to me. It is very special to help the children on their first schooling journey. Guiding them when they start, watching them grow and seeing them ready to leave for school with lots of new skills, is so rewarding.
GEMMA BALL- CURRICULUM LEAD THIRD IN CHARGE
I have worked with children for over 15 years in various settings include day nurseries as well as being a nanny and a childminder. I also have a Level 3 Childcare Educator Qualification. I really enjoy completing different courses to keep up to date with the latest guidance as well as learning how to make learning fun.
I joined Epsom Playhouse Pre-school in February 2020 as curriculum lead- third in charge. I love planning exciting and challenging activities for the children to explore, to enable them to progress with their learning journey. I particularly enjoy messy play activities as this encourages the children to use all of their senses to explore the world around them.
I am a mum to four children myself and we like to go on family walks to the park and woods with our dog. We have a very busy family life and like to meet up with our other family members for days out.
GHADA ELMAGHRABY - LEVEL 3 QUALIFIED EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER
I have been working in childcare for over ten years and joined the Pre-School in September 2013. I have an Extended Level 3 diploma for the Children and Young People's workforce.
I’m a mum to three lovely children of my own, a boy and two girls. I’m fascinated by children and get a lot of joy from being around them. I’m a creative person and I always have a few projects and ideas on the go.
My favourite thing about working at the Playhouse is coming up with creative ways to work with the children and see them express themselves.
KELLY LLOYD - EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER (Currently on maternity leave)
Working in childcare is something I have dreamt of doing for many years. I love being able to help children learn, develop and grow.
The most special thing for me is getting to see their faces when they achieve something they thought they couldn't do. What could be better than that?
I have a son myself who definitely keeps me on my toes but I wouldn't change him for the world!
My favourite thing about being around children is listening to them while they play and use their imagination. I also love to watch them grow and develop.
SARAH HUMPHRIES- EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER
I joined the Pre-School in 2017 having previously worked in the charity sector supporting children and adults with disabilities. I have recently achieved Cache level 2 diploma and I am currently studying towards level 3.
I am a mum to three sons. I grew up in Epsom myself, and I am passionate about early years education and making a difference to the children of the local community.
My favourite thing about the playhouse is getting to know each child, watching them them smile, grow and develop ready for their next journey at school.
SARAH SEDGWICK - SUPPLY PRACTITIONER
I have been working in childcare for nearly six years and joined the Pre-School in 2011 as a Supply Practitioner. I love working at the Pre-school and provide regular cover when I'm needed.
I also have two teenage daughters myself.
My favourite thing about working at the Playhouse is being part of a setting where the children are very happy and we get to see them thrive.
I have been working with children since 2016, I have worked as a nanny and also in day nurseries. In 2019 I decided to focus on SEN roles, working as a 1:1 support worker in a primary school. I also worked as an after school nanny for a family with 2 children, one of which has additional needs.
I began working as a 1:1 support worker for Epsom Playhouse pre-school in February 2020 as I wanted to gain some more experience within the EYFS and learn more about developmental differences from the early stages of life. I believe it will help my understanding and better equip me to adapt my teaching methods for children with additional needs, helping them to learn as they grow.
My motivation is my own difficulties learning as a child, and as a creative person, this type of role gives me the freedom to use my creativity within my work.
